Woop's newest sustainability partner, Future Post, turns everyday plastic waste into fence posts that outlast timber three times over. Founder Jerome Wenzlick explains how a rubbish-dump idea became a Kiwi recycling success story.
At Woop, we’re always looking for ways to reduce waste and make a positive impact on the planet. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Future Post, a New Zealand company that’s transforming plastic waste into durable, long-lasting fence posts. Founded by farmer and entrepreneur Jerome Wenzlick, Future Post is leading the way in recycling and sustainability.

How did Future Post start?
Jerome’s idea for Future Post came while working on a fencing project at an old rubbish dump. “I was surrounded by broken wooden posts and plastic waste, and thought, Why not make a better post out of this rubbish?” This simple idea led to the creation of a product that’s now helping reduce plastic waste and provide farmers with a stronger, more reliable fencing solution.
What makes your posts so fantastic?
Future Posts are built to last—and they’re made from 100% recycled plastic waste. Here’s what sets them apart:
100% Recycled Plastic: Each post uses about 19kg of plastic, like milk bottles and bread bags, diverting waste from landfills and oceans.
Long-lasting Durability: These posts last up to three times longer than traditional wooden posts, up to 50+ years!
Eco-friendly: They’re chemical-free and BioGro certified for organic farming, making them safe for the environment.
Low Maintenance: Future Posts don’t need insulators for electric fencing, making installation and upkeep easier.
What has been the most rewarding part of the Future Post journey?
Creating a unique company from scratch and overcoming the massive hurdles of building a new machine – a world first! I’m also super proud to be surrounded by a great positive team of people.
What’s your favourite food and why?
Freshly caught crayfish and scallops wrapped in honey and manuka smoked bacon. Cooked on the beach, with a Northland red kumara & garlic infused mash. Served with a Villa Maria Reserve Noble Riesling Botrytis. I catch the crayfish and scallops while diving, I make my own bacon, you can’t beat Northland kumara and the Villa Maria wine is liquid gold.

Villa Maria is very mindful of their impact on the environment. Over 30% of their owned vineyards are managed organically and they have a goal to make this 100% by 2030. Replacing traditional treated posts with posts that have a reduced leaching risk and a more circular lifecycle is one of the ways they are managing the vineyards organically.
“We approached Future Post when they were producing their first posts and have been working with them ever since to use their posts in a vineyard setting. It’s great to see their innovative approach to turning plastic waste into a product that can help us be more environmentally responsible”.
Why Future Post Matters?
Future Post’s mission is a reminder that sustainability is achievable when creativity meets determination. By transforming plastic waste into durable, environmentally friendly products, Jerome and his team are paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.
At Woop, we’re inspired by Future Post’s dedication to innovation and sustainability. It’s partnerships like these that drive us to keep reducing our own footprint while offering premium, convenient meal solutions to our customers.
